Raksha Bandhan at TLS Rohtak: Rakhis for Siblings, and for the Trees
Tiny hands, handmade rakhis, and a pledge to protect nature tied around every tree on campus.
Raksha Bandhan celebrates the bond of love, protection, and respect between siblings — and TLS Rohtak's youngest Ramaites gave the festival an extra layer of meaning this year.
Using paper, thread, beads, and a good amount of imagination, students created colourful handmade rakhis themselves rather than simply receiving them. Instead of tying them only to wrists, the rakhis were lovingly tied to trees around the school premises — a small, tangible pledge to protect and care for nature, alongside the traditional pledge between siblings.
The celebration blended tradition, creativity, and environmental consciousness in a way that made it genuinely memorable — proof that a festival's meaning can grow to include something new without losing what made it special in the first place.
